Co-founder & Managing Partner
Baris Akis (Stanford ’16) founded his first company during his freshman year and sold it the following year to focus on his CS degree with an AI specialization. He used the proceeds to start investing into his peers’ startups. During his third year, Baris noticed a significant disconnect between high-growth startups and top engineering students. As a result, Baris left Stanford in 2015 to launch Human.Capital, with the goal of connecting top engineers to unique, high-impact opportunities.

Jessica has recently joined Human.Capital after four years at Rubrik, where she built out their University program. Jessica saw Rubrik through hyper-growth, and got firsthand exposure to growing a successful, thriving, startup. Her passion and love for connecting with the students lead her to Human.Capital, where she’s excited to help connect even more students to exciting opportunities. She is a Bay Area native, attended Saratoga High School and UC Davis. Jessica enjoys exploring her creative side through singing, playing guitar, and editing photos for Instagram. She also loves winning in Catan, blogging about food, and traveling whenever she can!
Junior Principal
Yuvraj graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2017 with dual majors in Economics and Environmental Sustainability. Born in India, and raised in Dubai, Yuvraj grew up interacting with people from all religions and cultures, which helped cultivate his passion for people. After exploring a variety of jobs in different parts of the world, Yuvraj realized he wanted to pursue a career with a social impact, as well as one that served his passion for meeting new people. Following his internship at the United Nations HQ in New York, Yuvraj wanted to see what it would be like to work at a much smaller organization - one with less bureaucracy with a more hands-on approach to social impact. Human.Capital was the perfect fit, so Yuvraj packed his bags and moved to San Francisco! In his spare time, you can find Yuvraj traveling, eating (most often the case), playing the guitar, or hanging out with friends.

Norma graduated from UCLA in 2014 with a degree in Human Biology and Society. As a clinical research coordinator, she spearheaded the growth of a neurology clinic from the ground up and increased efficiency by 8x. As Chief Operations Officer of The Youth Movement Against Alzheimer’s, she led the team through the creation of processes and operations that are still being used today. She currently leads YMAA's policy initiatives and is working to create a CA Care Corps. At Practice Fusion she worked to reduce admin costs in healthcare while always leading her team and surpassing her sales goals. As a coordinator for the Grace Hopper Celebration, she cultivated the experience for high profile attendees (aka game-changing women technologists) and systematized the process for people to use in her role for years to come. In her free time, she loves to travel, explore nature, run, bike, and read!

Brandon (Stanford ’16) runs the Platform Team, the team that creates the automation, infrastructure, and resources to support our impact at scale. During his undergrad, Brandon was one of the initial Human.Capital team members at Stanford and was also on the gymnastics team while completing his CS degree. After graduation, Brandon joined Lending Club as a software engineer, where he worked on encryption and optical character recognition projects. After a year in industry, he realized that helping build Human.Capital and shaping the industries of the future would require his complete attention and decided to join the team full time. Brandon is driven by innovations that make society more productive on earth and beyond. In his spare time, you can find him running, reading a good book, or hosting dinner parties.

Neelan (UIUC '19) is a Junior Principal at Human.Capital, passionate about entrepreneurship and mission-driven startups. While studying electrical engineering at the University of Illinois, Neelan spent alot of time within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, helping build and grow UIUC startups through EntreCORPS, a student-run startup consulting firm. Neelan wanted to work at a startup post-graduation and found the process to be incredibly difficult to navigate. It was around that time he got connected to Human.Capital and became a member. Upon hearing about the mission and long term vision for Human.Capital, Neelan wanted to be more than a member and recently joined the team! In his spare time, Neelan likes eating out (send him food recs!), playing basketball, and reading about anything/everything tech.
