beacons & listeners
Beacons broadcast an ID called a UUID and come in all shapes and sizes. The main differences between the beacon types and form factors is use case driven. Variability includes: broadcast range, stationary or mobile, power source, battery life, on board chips and additional capabilities.
Listeners are fixed devices that listen for beacon signals or UUID. These signals are formatted in the listener and pushed to Kangaroo’s cloud platform. Listeners come in all shapes and sizes and are powered via a wall outlet, ethernet or solar.
Kangaroo’s Beacons are secure Bluetooth wireless devices that enables location-based information and services to travel short distances over a Bluetooth signal. They always transmitting and saying “I am here, and my ID is…”, the Kangaroo Application is always listening for this signal. Once the transmission is received, it does whatever it needs to do based on the location of the Kangaroo Beacon.
